Consists of manuscripts for four unpublished works by Potter (Princeton Class of 1896): BLOW HIGH, BLOW LOW!, concerning Potter's adventures as a naval officer on board the U.S.S. MANILA during the Philippine campaign of 1899-1901; FREDERICK FUNSTON, A FIRST-CLASS FIGHTING MAN, a biography of Major-General Frederick Funston (1865-1917), with a bibliography of Funston-related materials and a copy of Funston's report of his expedition (1893-1894) through Alaska and the British Northwest Territory which he made while he was a special agent for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture investigating the flora of the Yukon Valley; SONGS OF THE SULU SEA (ca. 1924), a compilation of verses previously published separately under the pseudonym of "Edward Barron"; and Potter's narrative interpretation of letterbook journals written by William Potter (1775-1847) while he was captain-commandant of the New Jersey Militia during the War of 1812, entitled THE ADVENTURES OF MAJOR WILLIAM POTTER (ca. 1947).

The Continental Congress called upon New Jersey in 1775 to form a militia to support Continental forces in New York. Early in 1776, the New Jersey Militia under Colonel Nathaniel Heard was ordered to take about 500 men to Long Island to disarm dissenting Loyalists. Frederick Funston, U.S. Army General, was born in 1865 and died in 1917. He fought in Cuba in 1896 with the Cubans, and in the Philippine Campaign, capturing their leader, Emilio Aguinaldo.
